BTR-40B (spare tire) miniature, representing the upgraded Soviet 4×4 armored personnel carrier fitted with an externally mounted spare wheel. Introduced in the mid-1950s, the BTR-40B differed from the earlier open-top BTR-40 by featuring an armored roof with hatches, offering improved protection for its crew and passengers against small-arms fire and shrapnel. While lightly armored, it could transport up to eight soldiers and often carried a machine gun for support. Widely used by the Soviet Army, Warsaw Pact allies, and many export customers, the spare tire variant reflects a practical field detail often seen in service. This model is an excellent addition for Cold War–era dioramas, wargaming scenery, or historical vehicle collections in multiple scales.
