BTR-40 (covered spare tire) miniature, depicting the Soviet 4×4 armored personnel carrier with both a canvas cover over the troop compartment and an externally mounted spare wheel. Introduced in the early 1950s and based on the GAZ-63 truck chassis, the BTR-40 was the first postwar Soviet APC, designed to transport up to eight infantry while offering protection from small arms fire and shrapnel. The covered spare tire variant reflects a practical and common field adaptation, combining improved protection for troops with added endurance in rough terrain. Widely used by the Soviet Army, Warsaw Pact allies, and numerous export customers, this model is a distinctive piece for Cold War–era dioramas, wargaming scenery, or historical vehicle collections in multiple scales.
