The ZIS-5 was a Soviet 3-ton, 4x2 military truck widely used during World War II. Produced from 1934 by the Moscow-based Zavod imeni Stalina (ZIS) factory, it was known for its durability, simplicity, and ease of repair. Though underpowered and slow, it served as a reliable workhorse, transporting troops, supplies, and towing artillery. Wartime models like the ZIS-5V were further simplified to speed up production, using wood for cabs and fenders.
