T-80BV miniature, representing the Soviet main battle tank introduced in the mid-1980s as an upgraded version of the T-80B. The T-80BV was fitted with Kontakt-1 explosive reactive armor (ERA) blocks across the hull and turret, greatly increasing protection against shaped-charge and anti-tank weapons. It retained the 125 mm smoothbore gun capable of firing 9M112 “Kobra” guided missiles, as well as the gas turbine engine that gave the T-80 its excellent mobility. Combining speed, armor, and firepower, the T-80BV became one of the most advanced tanks of the late Cold War and remains in service in modernized forms today.
