The Semovente da 75/18 was an Italian self-propelled gun based on the M13/40 and later M14/41 tank chassis. Armed with a short-barreled 75mm howitzer, it was originally designed as an infantry support vehicle but proved surprisingly effective against early Allied armor. Its low profile and adequate frontal armor made it well-suited for ambush tactics. Used by the Royal Italian Army and later by German forces after the 1943 armistice, the Semovente da 75/18 was Italy's most effective armored fighting vehicle during World War II.
