The Panhard 178 (AMD 35) was a French four-wheel-drive armored reconnaissance car introduced in 1937. Armed with a 25mm cannon and a 7.5mm machine gun, it featured a unique rear-facing driver's position for quick retreats. Widely used during the Battle of France in 1940, it was considered one of the best armored cars of its time. Captured vehicles later served with German forces as the P204(f) throughout World War II.
