The Marmon-Herrington Mk I is a South African armored car developed in the early stages of World War II. Based on a modified commercial Ford 4x2 chassis, it featured light armor plating and a small turret typically armed with a machine gun. Intended for reconnaissance and patrol duties in desert and open terrain, it marked South Africa’s early efforts to produce armored fighting vehicles for Commonwealth forces.
